Vanaf maart 2010 begin ik met het Independent Drawing Initiative.
Het komt voort uit de Independent Drawing Gig, gestart door Linas Jablonskis,waar voor ik vanaf het begin in 2005 tot op heden verslag doe op de IDG blogs www.idginformation.blogspot.com
Voor mei 2010 staat mijn eerste persoonlijke project van het Independent Drawing Initiative gepland.

As of March 2010 I’m starting the Independent Drawing Initiative. It’s a personal initiative but inspired by the Independent Drawing Gig, a project started by Linas Jablonskis. From it’s beginning in 2005 till today I’ve been posting the reports on the IDG blogs.

Independent Drawing Gig 4

Independent Drawing Gig (IDG) is an international project initiated by Linas Jablosnkis in Vilnius in 2005. It is a hybrid of a live concert and an exhibition of drawings. It places a particular emphasis on the collision of the independent music scene and the world of independent artistic practices where drawing plays a particularly important role. IDG is about experience and energy, independent spirit and critical value.

The previous 3 editions of IDG have taken place in Vilnius (2005), Skopje (2006), and The Hague (2007). The fourth edition in 2008 is meant to be staged in multiple cities in private spaces (studios, apartments, or garages) of friends that so far have been affiliated with the project that are ready to organize and curate a small event. For IDG4 there is a possibility to make this also a first version of the event for the Internet as well, which means that all the events will be streamed live on the IDG web site.

The project will also be featured in the upcoming issue of D (d is for drawing) in 2009/ 2010 , edited and published by Yane Calovski and co-published by Gijs Stork at Veenman Publishers / Gijs Stork, Rotterdam, with internationally distribution via D.A.P. Books in NYC, Idea Books in Amsterdam, Vice Versa Books in Berlin and Art Data in London.

Voor Ground Two wil Quartair the Independent Drawing Gig #3 presenteren.

De IDG #3 is een concept van de in Vilnius gebaseerde kunstenaar Linus Jablonskis.

In 2004 exposeerde wij al werk van Jablonskis in de tentoonstelling ‘Baltische staten’ samen georganiseerd met Artoteek Den Haag.

IDG #3 wordt een dynamisch evenement waarbij grensverleggende tekeningen en de onafhankelijke muziek scene elkaar ontmoeten. Wij denken dat de IDG #3 heel goed aansluit bij de thema en geest van ‘D.I.Y’ van Ground Two. De IDG #3 is een gebeurtenis waarbij de deelnemende performers en kunstenaars hun eigen contacten en netwerken gebruikt hebben om, buiten de ‘mainstream’ kunstwereld, hun eigen programma samen te stellen en te realiseren. Dit geeft het ook de spontaan en vrije karakter dat ontstaat door vrijwillige collaboratie en uitwisseling. De Independant Drawing Gig #3 geeft een inspirerende nieuwe visie van de ervaring van beeld en geluid, door een creatieve en gevoelsmatige link te leggen tussen tekenen en muziek, samen met aspecten van verhalenvertellen, letteren, lyriek, samen gebundeld in een volledigheid van gebaar en intentie.

De IDG #3 brengt een zeer diverse groep kunstenaars en muzikanten samen, wie een experimentele houding en energieke aanpak met elkaar delen. De uitgenodigde kunstenaars zijn afkomstig uit Litouwen en New York City, (curator Linas Jablonskis en Ray Bartkus), Macedonië (curator Yane Calovski), en uiteraard Nederland, (selectie door Quartair leden gemaakt).

Bijzonder is aan deze derde IDG dat er drie initiatief nemers meedoen die al enige tijd bezig zijn met het uitgeven van een boekje of magazine over tekenen;

Fukt door Björn Hegardt uit Berlijn (sinds 2000)

Wormhole door Ronald Cornelissen uit Rotterdam (sinds 2000)

D is for drawing door Yane Calovski uit Skopje (sinds 2004)

Vooral de laatste jaren is er veel aandacht voor het tekenen binnen de actuele kunst. IDG#3 moet dan ook een goed inzicht geven van wat er nu op dit moment gebeurt op het gebied van tekenen in Europa en the States.

Verder worden muzikanten uitgenodigd uit de VS, van de onafhankelijke muziek scene in Brooklyn en België, en the Skills, uit Maastricht.
